NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal visits North Shore
Students at a Locust Valley prep school were paid a surprise visit on Wednesday by basketball star Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq came to the Portledge School, where he spoke at an assembly and offered advice to those in attendance. “It’s a very simple blueprint,” O’Neal said. “Listen to your parents, listen to your teachers. Be a leader, not a follower. Stay out of trouble.”
Earlier in the day, Shaq had lunch at Abeetza Pizza in Greenvale. Local pizza eaters got a huge surprise when they walked in and unexpectedly saw NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal crouching over a small table with an unfinished pepperoni pizza pie at his side.
After finishing his spaghetti and meatball and pizza lunch, Shaq walked behind the counter and took some pictures with the pizzeria staff and customers.
Shaq retired earlier this year after entering the league as a rookie in 1992. He played for six teams – the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.
