Attention all residents, the County Executive has put out a surprise proposal to cut the number of Nassau County Police Precincts in half.

Glen Head and Glenwood Landing would lose the 6th precinct according to this plan.

The county Legislature must vote on this proposal but has received no solid information on how this will save any money. They also have been receiving feedback from Police that this will affect service.

The Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) is the nation’s most prestigious pre-college science competition.

A library is more than just books. It is a place of learning for people of all ages, a place where people come together to enrich their lives. A library is the heart of its community.

The Gold Coast Library in Glen Head, is pleased to announce Mike Morea as it’s new Library Director.

Mike is a life-long library user, growing up in Bethpage Public Library and working there throughout high school and college.

Mike is an alumnus of St. John’s University and Queens College where he studied Mathematics and Library Science.

He served most recently as Manager of Electronic Resources and Services for the Nassau Library System.

In the coming months, Mike plans to meet and speak with many members of the community and to get our thoughts on how the library can be improved.

192 High Schools to Compete for the Title of Tri-State Champion on MSG Varsity

“The Challenge” is back and celebrating its 15th anniversary of showcasing the best and brightest high school students from the tri-state area.

Economic Conditions and New Tax Cap Spur Community Action

On November 18th, The Viking Foundation held a special kick-off reception for “The Campaign for Our Schools” at North Shore Country Club.

Over 150 guests were in attendance, including leaders of North Shore Schools community organizations, new Foundation board trustees, school administrators, members of the Board of Education and early campaign donors.
